Fairfield County – Consider The Possibilities

Fairfield County is home to four of the State of Connecticut’s largest cities: Bridgeport, Stamford, Norwalk and Danbury. The area is cut through by the beautiful and rugged Taconic and Berkshire Mountains ranges. The county also borders New York State with the south facing Long Island Sound. For these reasons alone, it is sometimes difficult to find apartments for rent.

Out and About

If you are able to find a place to rent within the county limits, you can spend your weekends enjoying the various activities. These range from yachting at the Indian Harbor Yacht Club to golfing at the Silvermine or Whitney Farms Golf Club. If you prefer to go hiking or have a picnic, there is the Woodcock Nature Center, Wildflower Sanctuary, West Mountain Refuge, Twin Bridges Picnic Area and Lakewood Camp. You can wander through the hills and in smaller towns or head to the local beaches. Bring a towel and blanket and visit Southport Beach, Fords Beach, Pine Ledge or Hawthorne Beach.

Take your children to the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport. The only zoon in Connecticut, it is home to mainly North and South American animals. Visit the South American Rainforest or take the kids to the New England Farm yard. It’s a wonderful way to spend the day no matter how old you are.

For those who prefer the quiet of the great indoors, there are always museums to visit. Fairfield County has several to offer you. Take time to see what is on at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich. This regional museum offers first class displays and exhibits, including its marvelous Seaside Center which focuses on the local beach ecology. You may also want to head off to the Housatonic Museum of Art with a collection including works by such master artists such as Chagall, Matisse, Miro, Picasso and Rodin. For something completely different you can also go off hunting for sales in any of the region’s shopping centers.

Apartments for rent provide easy access to not only nature, but also the type of nurturing shopaholics find more stimulating. Within the county, you can locate many types of shopping opportunities. There are smaller shops and, of course, the much larger shopping centers found in the various towns and cities in the county. Consider buying antiques in New Haven, Norwalk or Stamford. You can locate gourmet food in Handen and Ridgefield as well as fine jewelry in Danbury.

Having an entire county to explore opens wide the shopping possibilities. With Long Island and the rest of New York State close at hand, it is not difficult to see why looking to purchase any of the suitable apartments for rent puts a shopper, a hiker, a lover of museums and most people at a distinct advantage.
