Japanese Yen has been weakening since Sept of 2013 at the rate of 100 Yen for one dollar after over two years of unfavorable exchange rate of 80 Yen to one dollar in the beginning of 2011. Japanese manufactures are back in the game after two years of weak sales in United States. Toyota being of the largest manufacturers in the world reported stronger sales in 2013. Toyota surpassed General Motors to become one of the largest automakers in the world in 2008. The big three automakers from Detroit are in trouble as Honda and Toyota are indicate stronger sales.

Sharp rise in sale of Japanese vehicles is a stronger indicator of popularity of these fuel efficient models. Even metrics of used vehicle sale show that people prefer Japanese models more than American models, the reason being that most believe Japanese Engines are reliable, fuel efficient and last longer. Demand for low mileage Japanese motors has shown a sharp increase as economy is growing even though prices of engines imported from Japan have gone up due to unfavorably stronger Yen against the dollar. Local Salvage Yards are not able to compete with Japanese importers who import these low mileage engines because they can’t offer low mileage engines neither they have the ability to test them before selling them due to large volume of salvage vehicles they process. Another problem people face is that there are very few importers who import low mileage motors from Japan into United States. Demand for Truck Engines is a strong indicator of growth. People are looking for truck engines for Toyota Tundra, Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, Nissan Titan etc.
