6 Steps to Prepare Your Round Cake Pans

Investing in quality baking tools can help you improve your baking skills. However, that’s not going to be enough. You’ll need to know how to use them the right way as well. If this is your first time to use round cake pans, here are a few tips to make sure each of your cakes come out a success.

Get parchment paper

By now, you should already know how essential parchment paper is to your life if you plan on becoming a professional baker. Make sure you have enough stocked up.

Cut up the paper

Start preparing by cutting out square parchment papers. Keep in mind that you’ll use these to line your pans so the size must be slightly bigger than your round cake pans.

Trace your pan

An easy way to get the right shape is to trace the bottom of your pan onto the paper. Do it with a pencil then cut along the line, Real Simple explains. That should give you a circle that fits inside your pans easily enough.

Butter the pans

You’ll need to apply a layer of butter on the pans. A pastry brush should be enough to get the job done. Make sure you apply the coating evenly on the sides and at the bottom of your pans. After that, put in the parchment paper. Are there any creases or bubbles? Take the time to smooth them out before you proceed with the rest.

Use cocoa powder

If you’re baking a chocolate cake, you’ll want to use cocoa powder instead of flour when you dust the pan. That way, you won’t end up with a white film on your cake, which could be hard to cover up.

Shop around for quality pans

High-quality pans will always perform better. Make sure you’ve got these in your kitchen if you’re determined to bake for a living.
