What is a canopy?

It’s a kind of outdoor shelter that uses beams or posts for support. The covering is typically made out of canvas or acrylic material which is then stretched over the beams and posts, creating a shade underneath. The structure can range from steel and iron to aluminum and even wood beams.

What is the difference between awnings and canopies?

Awnings are shade structures that you need to attach to an exterior wall of a house or building. Canopies, on the other hand, have posts and beams, making these structures more flexible than awnings since there’s no need for exterior walls to mount them. You could put them up anywhere.

What are canopies used for?

There are a number of uses for a canopy and canopy replacement covers. These include:

  • Portable car port. Car covers are great for keeping the dust and dirt off your car, says Car Cleaning Guru. But if that car cover isn’t going to do much to protect your ride from flying debris, strong winds or hail if you don’t have a car port or garage. With a canopy, you won’t have to have one built. You can use a canopy to serve as handy, portable car port.
  • Event tent. Have a wedding party or birthday celebration to plan for? Canopies are a great way to provide your guests with a party space. Set the tents, tables, some music and you’re good to go.
  • Pop up tent. If you have a bazaar or book fair to attend or even a fundraising event where you need to put up a stall and sell products to raise funds, you can easily use canopies like a pop up tent and get down to business.
  • Outdoor shade. Don’t let your garden space go to waste. With a canopy, you can have a spot out in the garden to sit in and relax, keeping the sun and rain off you.
