Purchasing a vehicle is a hefty expense to take on every month, so you want a vehicle that you know will last you and take you wherever you need to go. Sometimes, however, no matter how careful you are, you end up with a defective vehicle and a ton of problems you didn’t expect. At Krohn & Moss Ltd. Consumer Law Center, they understand and will help you in any way they can. The Arizona lemon law can be complicated, but some of the facts are listed below.

Cars Covered by the Lemon Law in Arizona

   * Only new vehicles are covered
   * Only the chassis and vehicle of motor homes is covered
   * Nothing weighing over 10,000 pounds is covered
   * Nothing bought at an auction is covered

Is there a Statue of Limitations?

You have to report the defect and file for Arizona lemon law status within two years or 24,000 miles before the end of the warranty, whichever comes first with the vehicle.

New Cars

   * 24,000 miles
   * 2 years
   * The end of the warranty from the company who made the car

Used Cars

   * A used car is covered for the first 15 days or even the first 500 miles after you buy it, whichever comes first

Requirements

   * A reasonable attempt must be made to have the problem resolved and your car fixed. Reasonable meant at least four attempts or 30 days.
   * If these demands aren’t met or the vehicle can’t be fixed, then you are entitled to a replacement or a refund.

Hiring an Attorney

While the lemon laws of Arizona might seem to be cut and dried, they aren’t really. If you have a lemon on your hands, you might want to consider hiring a reputable attorney to help resolve the problem.
